People Discuss 10 Unexplained and Remarkable Situations, Some Resembling Stories from Films

Although we can find a logical explanation for almost everything that happens to us, there are things and circumstances that simply leave us speechless. One thread on Reddit invited people to share strange and unexplained things that happened in their lives, and reading these stories is like watching a good detective story, thriller, or even a horror movie. Discovering your boyfriend’s secret in a dream, reading a letter from the future, or even forgetting a whole day of your life – it all sounds like a movie script, but these things really happen to real people.

We at Bright Side have selected 10 stories for you from this thread, so make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, snuggle up in a warm blanket, and get ready for an exciting trip into the unknown.

A letter from the future

Years ago, when my wife was pregnant with our second child and about to give birth, my mom came to stay with us for a few days.

One early evening, my mother asked for a pen, paper, and an envelope. She wrote on a piece of paper, stuck it in an envelope and gave it to me. “Put it in your pocket and don’t open it. You’ll know when,” she said.

Thirty minutes later my wife announced it was time to go to the hospital, she was in labor.

So we did and about 9 hours later at 3:45 our second daughter was born. She weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 20 inches long.

In these pre-cell phone days, I called my mom from the hospital to tell her the news. She picked up the phone and immediately said, “Before you say anything, open the envelope.” | did. It said:

“Girl 3:45 AM, 8 lbs, 11 oz, 20 inches”

I kept that paper for years. When my mom died, I went to the safe for our documents where we had stored them, but they were gone.

The Invisible Lady

When my son was not even 3, he came to my room and kept telling me that “the lady” was in his and his sister’s room. Half asleep I pushed it away and told him to snuggle up to me in bed.

So he got into my bed, but he kept waking me up every few minutes to tell me about “the lady”. Then he said she was at my bedroom door.

So, trying to show him that there was no lady there and that we should go to bed, I picked him up and led him out of my room in the dark.

We stand in the hall and I say: “You see there is no lady.” She points her finger down the hall, where nothing can be seen at all, and says, “Mom, she’s right there. That’s the lady! And this is HER house.”

Nothing, not even a shadow where he was pointing. I kind of tried not to show that I was scared and I said, “Okay, she must be a nice lady” and I took him back to my bed where he immediately fell asleep and I stayed up for hours thinking that this

the “lady” in my 100+-year-old apartment has to hang around and watch me sleep.

Representative of pregnancy

One night I had a dream that a former co-worker (Friend 1) who I rarely hang out with was pregnant. In the dream, I was back in my old office and they were explaining to me that I was going to replace her. I was like, “Oh no, I left you last year and went to a new place.” She came in and was very pregnant and said, “Oh come on, it’s only when I’m on vacation.”

I told my husband because it was weird and we joked about how horrible it would be for me to get out of that place only to have to go back.

Maybe a week later I had a dream about another friend (friend 2) who I also rarely talk to that she was pregnant.

Next week I run into girlfriend 1 somewhere and joke about that funny dream I had where she was pregnant. She tells me she is and they haven’t told ANYONE she’s expecting yet. I laugh it off and tell my husband about it later. He jokes and says, “Didn’t you dream that girlfriend 2 was pregnant, you should call her.” It’s even funnier because boyfriend 2 is my age and like me has older kids, we’re too old to start over. I laugh at that.

The next day I called my friend 2 about the funny dream. Turns out she’s also pregnant and they didn’t tell anyone. Totally crazy!

Ghost car

I was driving home from work and was driving behind a car that was the same make, model, and year of my car, just a different color.

Further down the road, we both come to a slip lane to turn left onto a long straight road with open fields on either side. The car in front of me turns onto this road and I wait for the car to pass and then turn too. It takes less than 5 seconds. However, when I turned onto the road, the car in front of me was nowhere to be found.

This road has no turns and is long and straight so you can see pretty far ahead. The car just disappeared and I still think about it today.

I’m 100% sure the car didn’t spin. The roads are really narrow so they wouldn’t be able to complete the turn without having to do a three-point turn or go partway into the field.

After turning onto this road and noticing that the car in front of me was no longer there, I looked around and saw another car pulling away behind me, but the car that looked like mine was nowhere to be found. There was nowhere on that road for the car to go or I would have seen it.

I know your name.

I was standing in line at Target once.

In the checkout lane in front of me was a mother and her (I think) 3-year-old. I have never met them before in my life. The child was riding in a shopping cart and the mother went forward to unload it better. The child looks dead at me, smiles, laughs, and clearly says my first name twice. I have an unusual first name which makes it even weirder.

Total appeal

As an adult, I told my mother about this house I was in, in a dream I had.

It was brown, had 2 bedrooms, 2 floors, and stairs to the L. I went into every detail about this house from my dream.

Anyway, the house I described was the house I was born in. Not like, born, born.

I was born in a hospital… but in a house that my family lived in for 2 years before I was born that we all moved out of when I was 7 or 8 months old.

At first, I thought my brain got it from the pictures I saw, but honestly, the level of detail was second to none

the pictures we had at such a young age.

They were mostly close-ups, so the background wasn’t really visible much. My best guess to date is that my brain is collecting really old and vague memories, other than that I’m not sure how I knew anything about this house let alone its layout, furniture arrangement, etc.

Called messages

I think it’s just a coincidence, but it’s still weird.

I can summon (I don’t know a better word for it) a boy to send me a message. There is one particular boy who was a close friend when we were 12-

13. We lost touch once we left for high school. Sometimes I think of texting him and I usually hear back from him within 10 minutes. It’s really bizarre and it only happens to this one boy. One time we didn’t talk for a year and then he randomly messaged me when I was thinking about hooking up. I asked him why he messaged me and he said he had a strange feeling that made him message me. It’s really bizarre, though probably just a coincidence.

A day I don’t remember

I was about 6 and went to bed on Wednesday night. I woke up and it was Friday. I remember asking my mom why it was Friday when yesterday was Wednesday.

She said yesterday was Thursday, of course.

I asked her what I did on Thursday because the last thing I remember was going to bed on Wednesday. She listed some activities and I didn’t remember any of them. I’ve never figured out why I don’t remember that Thursday.

A gift from nowhere

FOR MET AUREN LENDEANE

ah, Lesteds Shal

My mom was going through a hard time, she wasn’t making much money. A single mother with 2 children. He was stressed about the bills but only had enough to cover them. Unfortunately, we ran out of money. She was a hard worker and worked multiple shifts at the hospital she worked at. Still, this particular month was tough. She swept and prayed for help. When she turned to empty the trash into the trash, a flimsy $100 bill sat perfectly atop the full trash can. No one lived with us in our house. She could never explain it.

Hidden in plain sight

I lost an important piece of paper right after I brought it home. He looked everywhere. After 2 weeks I decided to call the company and have them send me a copy.

On the day I planned to call, I went into the kitchen and pulled out a container of lunch from the fridge. I went to the living room to get the phone and returned to the kitchen to microwave my lunch. The missing paper was on top of my lunch container.
